As of right now, the Steam client on Windows 7 and 8 PCs are out of date and can't be updated. Valve will no longer release any updates, including any security fixes.
Valve says the client is still working for now, you can still log in and play your games but Valve says in future the client will break down and you'll no longer be able to open the app or play any games
