Im going to install the retail copy of Win7 tonight but is it possible to backup my steam folder so i dont have to redownload all my steam games?

Also anyone know where the save games are stored for batman?

Backup the whole steam folder, then just copy it onto your new installation and run the steam installer (installer may not even be necessary).

Yes...just copy your steam folder onto another harddrive

Save games can be anywhere...But there normally somewhere in your c drive Documents folders

Save games are sometimes in the App Data folder as well I believe.

It's also possible to backup games via : File > Backup games on steam :)

Steam backup just does the game files pretty much, nothing else.

Steam is completely portable, I leave it on a separate drive so even moving from XP to 7 all I had to do was back up any saves from games that used My Docs and then run the existing steam.exe after booting up the first time.

IF you have it on your C: drive, just move it to another drive and put it back afterwards. Simple.

ive been having a few issues with steam backups, i use the above method using the steam backup tool, select it so it creates a big file that i just copy to a folder rather than dvd sized files but then i run the app to reinstall them all it does is says preparing game files etc then it just starts downloading the games again which pretty much seems a waste of time creating a backup?

*edit*
Ah my bad, just realised you need to copy the folder locally to do it, is that right?
