Down under mate!
I really fancy playing a point and click adventure for a change. Enjoyed playing The monkey island trilogy and Broken Sword trilogy so this looks like my cup of tea?

Linkage

Has anyone played this/any good/rubbish?

Cheers,

TC.

I can't see the link and couldn't advise you if I could, since I've never heard of the game, but I enjoyed the demo of Jolly Rover. It's an old-style 2D point & click, had some good humour but the full game was £15 so I skipped it until there's a sale/price crash. Also, if you can get it running, I'd recommend Indiana Jones & The Long Game Title (the Atlantis one), though that's about as old-school as I like to get.

Bought this but I still haven't installed it! Will report back as soon as I've played a bit of it.

Ta fella keep me posted mate.

Nice spot Gimpymoo downloading.:) As for Mata Hari. considering it's a couple of years old the graphics look pretty good.

That looks more like a poor man's Uncharted then a Monkey Island style adventure.

If you like point and click, then I recommend Gabriel Knight: Sins of the father($5 I think) from GoG(assuming you haven't played it), if you don't mind the old fashioned point and click style.

It's an adult themed adventure, with very good voice work and a very good story, the puzzles are reasonably logical too.

Lost Horizon does seem to be quiet tempting actually.

Playing through Broken Sword for nostalgias sake and am actually finding it rather relaxing and enjoyable, makes a change from most games I play nowadays which are RUSH RUSH RUSH.

what did you make of the demo just downloading it myself now

TBH broken sword directors cut was quite a dissapointment the supposed 3 hours extra gameplay for me was only 38 minutes

I am playing for the love of the original game, anything extra is a bonus :)

Are all the puzzles from the original in here too?

Although having said that, you may have already played it. Probably my favourite point and click, great storyline (which continues in the non-point and click follow-up, also great).

AGREED - I have the collectors edition with Artwork/Audio discs etc.

May purchase on Steam just for the convenience and to play them again.

just had a quick go of the demo of lost horizon and had to turn it off. the voice acting is atrocious.

Most games of this ilk suffer from this as they dont often have big budgets and what they do have, they would rather spend on other ingame assets.

Yeah everything is the same apart from a few puzzles are from a different perspective the chess puzzle towards the end of the game is now a 3d puzzle which threw me off a little.

Some of the nico storyline is pretty good but it was just too short, there are also some annoying speach cuts from the original

one example where sergeant mouve says stop that misuer and rosso says has it occured to you he is dead

now in the original mouve had a lot more text and said stop that misuer stop holding you breath at once.

I think these cuts were made to bring the game into the very politically correct era we live in and their are quite a few of them if you've played the original as many times as i have lol
