I have just installed Windows 7 on an additional HDD in the same PC that i use for gaming.

Is there any way i can transfer my game level saves from my other HDD to this one or will Steam do this automatically when i load my steam account along with the relavent games.

Also i only have Modern Warfare 2 on DVD and all other Steam games were downloaded from Steam so what do i need to do to transfer them??

Thanks all.

Some Steam games have the save file within the Steam folder but most games seem to use various paths in 'my documents'. There's no uniform way of saying so it's usually a case of googling each game + save to see where they are saved. After a reinstall of windows I've just dragged and dropped individual save files from windows.old and then just ran the game and that's worked fine. The games that save within the steam folder just work anyway. Now that you mention it, it's a shame that all the games don't save within the Steam folder. That would make the whole folder pretty bullet-proof in terms of reinstalling windows or transferring to a new PC etc.

Backup your windows 7 user folder (C:\Users\"your name") as almost all the game saves will be scatter around in there somewhere.
There normally in the hidden appdata folder (C:\Users\"your name"\appdata\local and roaming folders)

P.S...Remember to set show hidden folders before backing it up...;)
