Just reinstalled Windows 7 and was wondering is it possible to install Steam on my SSD and the games on my 2TB HDD? If so do I just link the installation folder on the HDD in Steam?

On Steam now you get the option to set up different Steam folders. I have one on my 2TB HDD, and another on a smaller SSD. When I install a game, you have the option of which of the two folders to install it into.

If you decide to move a game later (I tend to move the game I'm playing currently to the SSD, then back to the HDD when I tire of it), simply move the folder containing the game from the Steamapps/Common folder on one drive to the other. Then launch Steam, delete local content for the game, then install it again on the other drive. Steam starts installing, then notices the files are already there, checks them and it's done and dusted in a minute. :)

Easier way is to copy the game and the appmanifest_(gameid).acf to the new location. When steam starts up it reads the appmanifest files and uses them to work out which games are installed where. Saves the faffing around with deleting local content, reinstalling and discovering the new files. Also helps with modded games where steam will redownload files that have been altered.
