Is there still a massive performance difference these days playing a game though mac OS x natively compared to using bootcamp and windows?

How do people find it? Recently picked up a mac but havent got round to boot camping it up.

There's a definite improvement in Lion as they're using newer OpenGL libraries. 1.7.4 (or it might be .14), as opposed to 1.6.13 in SL. I've no idea on bootcamp performance.

Going to give it a go tomorrow at work. We have a 5GB a month download limit so unable to download much off steam. Fancy getting back into TF2 and some older games if possible.

I have a top end 15" 2011 MBP and not really noticed any difference in terms of performance between OSX and bootcamp but of course your milage may vary.

Also I belive if you have the GCF files you can move them to your Mac steam folder and they should get picked up I believe

Ive been playing TF2 natively on Lion, and its totally fine, although my iMac fans do tent to spin more since I put Lion on, other than that no problems at all.

TF2 is semi-broken on OSX at the moment, I made a temporary fix thread for it a few days ago in this section :>

It really depends on what games you are playing, on lion some games are coming up as incompatible which is annoying :( (there's a big thread on the steam forums and iv lost broken sword 2 a few days ago)

Most games though are about the same these days, though in osx the processor is more heavily managed on my mbp for temp reasons so performance can be a little less. Osx does also have better drivers for the track pad making it better for gaming too
