Hi, following a conversation on another thread, we were talking about installing games on to ssd's and i wondered whether it was possible to install steam games to 2 different drives.
i.e, most games on to your main hdd and a select few on to your ssd

Is there a way that this can be done?

it would be very useful

cheers

GameSave Manager /thread

It is possible to install steam twice but requires some tweaking somewhere and means you can only access those games on that drive which is just plain awkward. Use the mklink command but its easier to use the 'steam spreader' function on GSM and let that do it for you so 1 install will work normally.

Over the last month or so since i completed my build, i have installed about 450gb worth of games on to my 1tb hdd.

on thursday i got another 1tb hdd and thought i'd set up raid0, so i set it up, reinstalled windows 7 and then suddenly realised that i didn't back up my games on to my external hdd that i usually use for backing up. i have to download it all again now.
i had got it out ready on my desk to use as well!!!!:mad:

And yesterday my mate said i can have his 64gb ssd off him for £30 so another windows installation for tomorrow, should fit a few games on there too. :)

:D Your lucky there from steam which lets you redownload them as many times as you want..

What speed internet line do you have ??

virgin 30mb. Steam games fluctuate between 1.2mb/s and 1.6mb/s usually.

- i had spoken to a mate about 10 minutes before i did it and told him i was going to back it all up as well. i really don't know how i forgot.

actually, it is 20mb virgin, they are uprgrading to 30 at the end of the month.
