Steam games slow in vista?

Well its all up and running however i just played halflife 2 lost coast and it felt a lot slower than my xp version , everything is upto date on my system :(


Vista 64BIT

Nforce 4 , sli-dr
X2 3800 @ 2.55GHZ
Zotac 512MB 8800GTS @ 739/1001
2GB Gskill @ 239MHZ

"Felt"?

Get Fraps running on both to see if there's a difference. In reality they should be pretty much the same, maybe 1 or 2 frames difference either side.

Yeah don't do that, there's no point going back to 2001. :D

I'd still get Fraps installed (or anything that shows you the FPS) just to see if there's any problems.
 
You could enable console and get it to show FPS on screen though the built in function, it will give you some other statistics which may be of use.
 
Well just tried jericho ( not steam ) and it worked very very nicely!

Going to redownload the steam stuff as a few of them are coming up with spinning error textures this was archived from the cd.
