So I came back from my holiday yesterday, turned on the pc and steam was asking me to log in. I thought this was strange as its never asked me to do that before. So I log in to find most of the games I had installed, now need installing again? Anyone any idea what has happened here? Has this happened to any of you guys before?

The only other place I have ever used steam is on my mobile. Don't think anyone would have been on my PC either so no idea what could have happened. After re-installing one of the games, I don't seem to have lost my game save. Would that suggest all the files are still somewhere on the PC?

Save files could be in the documents folders, lot of games create them there. If the actual game files are still present in the Steam folders then when you install them again, Steam will just verify the files without downloading anything. No idea as to why this happened though!

Yes they are still present in my f drive, and after clicking a game to reinstall in the steam folder there, they have all been verified as you have said neoboy. Thanks for the help guys. Strange one this, at least ill know for next time.

I mean you could have steam games installed on more than one hard drive, not a separate computer/mobile app.

edit: there you go, sooms like Steam forgot you had more than one install location for a bit. Odd!
