Steam Games!

Hi folks,

I have just purchased Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and I didn;t realize it is required to download via Steam!!!!!!! :mad:

Extremely angry! :mad:

I have no experience in purchasing games from retail store for a year or so and I am outdated!

Had i noticed the little label at the back of the box I would not have purchased it!!!! HKD 320 is quite a lot to me for a game to be downloaded from a ****ing slow server like Steam!!!!

I dont know Steam and I am not prejudiced but I hate buying a product with a full retail price and I have to wait for hours to have it appear on my hard drive, also I have no idea as to how to back it up on hard drive or DVD rom!!!!!!

Can any folks up here tell me what forth coming games are Steam and Steam only, I would rather not play these games. Also does this Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for pC has a non Steam version???

By the way my download speed is only 80 KB/s !!!!! No swearing disguised or not!

Also can folks help by telling me wher this ****ing download is going into on my Windows, I mean which folder so that I can dump them on to my hard drive in case I need to reinstall due to a reinstall of Windows THANKS in advance!!!

what do you think steam was exactly if you didn't think you download the games from it?

No, there is no need to download the game via steam.

The game will install onto steam from the dvd, steam will then automatically update the game to the latest version.

Steam > Back & Restore

You can use the disc to install it, you will just need Steam to patch and launch it.
You can also change download server location by going to Settings > Downloads tab.

Where do you live though, 80Kbps? That sucks, I get better 3g coverage, actually, better WAP speeds

Wow that is quite some rage. As others have said you can install from the disc but maybe you should think about upgrading to broadband internet as well.

Also wait till you learn about Origin

Excuse me folks! I am with you I am afraid!
After inserting Disc 1 it installs Steam Automatically.

I check the contents of the Disc, the setup is for the Steam software....

Can you explain a bit more? Thanks!!!

By the Way I bought Cliff of Dover from another retail store and the Key has been registered before!!!!! I dont like Steam anyway!

Actually installing PC games are getting annoying recently!

I have paid quite a bit for LOCK ON Platinum and Rise of Flights. RoF is okay.
But LOCKON has limited number of Activations. First I dont know why they have to impose this, I find it inconvenient. I use reborn software SteadyState and Faronics. I nearly use up all the activations....

Why all these fuzz??

I think he works for E.A and is trying to set us up for a "OMG - ORIGIN IS BETTER THAN EVERYTHING" thread

Why would they provide a DVD with ONLY the Steam software on it. Seems a bit stupid doesn't it...

You can install the entire game off the disk. From then on Steam maintains it.

Really do not understand people's problem with Steam anymore either. Seems like people like to complain about it being a "hassle" because there isn't anything else they can think of.

Actually I am following the steps but the Steam still go to download, it never checks my DVD???????????

Insert the DVD, and run the installer OFF the DVD. Don't try and run it via Steam or anything. You need to have Steam installed first, and the game needs to activate the key on Steam first.

I installed my copy from DVD with Steam already installed. All you do is insert the DVD and run the installer. Then let it install. Done.

Finally it's working!!

But hell I dont know what I have done as different from what I did before.

Anyway the screen coming up now...

I did a reboot though and my Faronics reborn software is still active
