login to your steam account and download it and it should work...

He can't log in if he's forgot his log in details? :p

Just load up steam, and follow the instructions when you click "forgot your password"

They'll send an email to your address you used to sign up with i think? Or give you the chance to change your password.

oh, sorry didn't read that bit lol...

or just buy the game account, it ain't that expensive these days, is it? :p

If you've had Half-Life 2 previously, you should be able to recover your account as long as you can remember your e-mail address or if you have your serial number still.

All you need to do is install Steam, select "Retrieve Lost Account", then select "I don't know my account name", then "I remember the product code I used" or "I remember the email address I used".

http://support.steampowered.com/ may help you if you get any more stuck.

As long as you're not playing online games like Counter-Strike: Source of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch on both PCs at the same time, you can log on fine with the same Steam account on more than one PC.

yup just make sure you can find the disc :D make the process a bit quicker :)

i don't bother with my disc anymore, i just use the backup thing and keep it on my secondary hdd. :p

Exactly, this is what I did when I moved to Vista.
Just use the backup thing to backup all of your Steam games/vids etc, just download the steam client on the new PC, and restore the backup.

If I remember, the Steam backup software even breaks the files down for handy DVD spreading across multiple disks, if you've got loads to backup.

Worked a treat here, and saved downloading again :)

V1N.

EDIT: Or actually, I can't quite remember, I think maybe the steam backup thing made its own exe file, and I didn't even have to download the Steam client again? Just doubleclick the backup exe and it does all the work for you. Can't quite remember, but either way, backup from the old machine and restore on the new would be the quickest and easiest option I'd say :)

Slighty OT hijack here, but that back up sounds very interesting cos I'm looking to clear off a bit of hard drive space and have thought about uninstalling halflife 1 and 2 and blue shift etc etc, but wasn't sure how to go about reinstalling if I wanted them back on my comp.

If I use the steam backup process, will it back up everything including third party mods etc? and does it remember your steam account settings? This would be very handy for me as I no longer use the email account with which I signed up for steam and I'm not sure I can remember the password.

If this was the case, I could just back everything up to dvd and clear loads of space...which would be very welcome.

Also, I seem to have 2 installs of Haliflife, one in C:/Sierra and one in the steam folders, can I safely delete the C:/Sierra one???

Thanks for any help on this.

You can uninstall them, they stay in your account permanently. You can either reinstall from the CD/DVD, redownload, or backup them separately.

I recently reinstalled Steam to play CS again.

Just download Steam, login, enter your email, then selected forgotten password.

Obviously if you can't remember ya email address then i dunno.

Is it possible to minimize the game your playing if you need to access something else on your pc? Or do you have to quit the game each time then restart it again? Also how do you get the fps icon?
