I don't think someone should have to admit they were wrong for hating it in the past but now liking it; it's an evolving piece of software that barely resembles its original release build. I hated steam because it broke Team Fortress Classic for me, my key-binds that i had spent years of competitive play perfecting stopped functioning correctly, connection issues were created, half of my clan couldn't register their cd-key because they were apparently already taken and it really threw a spanner into the works for the competitive gaming side of it which was already suffering at the time.
To be honest i view steam as a large part of the cause of the downfall of TFC which was my favorite game at the time, possibly of all time, that's why i disliked it. It is a very good piece of software now, it could potentially become the application that drives PC gaming back into contention for the majority share of the gaming market a few years down the line.
