Hey,

Im wanting to get steam/half life on my macbook.. anyone know how I could go about it? yeah ive seen Parellels or something but youve gotta install XP on the HD - right? Any emulator or something which will run the game?

cheers

From what I know, you've got 3 options;

1) BootCamp - install on Tiger (or already installed on Leopard), you run it to install Windows on a partition. Upside: You'll get full hardware support e.t.c, like running on a system equivalent of a "normal" laptop. Downside: You have to restart and boot into Windows to game and boot back to OS X.

2) Run on Parallels/VMWare - it runs Windows XP natively (you'll have to install it from CD/iso). Upside: No need for booting about. Downside: Limited to no hardware graphics support.

3) Crossover Mac - no need to install any Windows e.t.c. Just install Crossover and then run HL2/Steam on a "Bottle", basically it emulates a Windows environment for the game. Upside: Apparently supports HL2/Team Fortress II quite well, no need to boot (runs natively on OSX). Downside: Good but not as good as Bootcamp.
