Hey folks,

i recently installed steam on my OS (Win 7 64 bit) initially i couldn't get it to run so tried it in compatibility mode for xp, it installed etc etc.

however, ive recently un-installed as i want to try re-installing it without having to do that?

Is this possible? When i try, it just runs in 32 bit mode again? Does this effect its ability to run to optimal standards? Is there any negative effects?

I use win 7 64 never had a problem running steam I am not sure if running it in compatibility mode will have any problem because as long as the games them self's are not running it you should be fine.

On a related note, when I go into Big Picture Mode my machine tells me I am running in compatibility mode, a bit annoying that I have to click the prompt each time before it runs. Is there a config file that I can edit to disable this check?
