It was be officially confirmed that Valve will be phasing out their Steam forums in favor of Discussion Boards. I for one think that this is a terrible decision, I think that we might be starting to see the demise of Steam.

If this is true, I guess it is goodbye Steam forums and Hello OCuk forums.

Where does it say that? I saw they said this... But not htat they are closing them down...

Hello everyone,

Several users have raised some concerns about the new Community Discussions area and what it means for the future of the Steam Powered User Forums.

Currently, we don't have any plans to close down these forums. As long as people are still active here we plan to keep them open. The Community discussions feature offers several new features - full Steam integration, in-client notification of new posts to subscribed discussions, and the ability for anyone to make and moderate their very own group forums. However, we understand that there's a lot of history here in these forums, and that the Community discussions don't have all the same features you've gotten used to here.

We've added a link to these forums from the Community discussions landing page, accessible both in client and on the web. Please keep the feedback coming, and we'll be continuing to work to improve the forum experience, both here and on the Steam Community.

Thanks,
Al

Not that i really care the Steam forums do have a large number of idiots on them. I dont often go near them.

That is true, there are a lot of idiots and people that have no idea what the are talking about on Steam Forums, but it is the best place to discuss things like ep3.

Demise of Steam? I really doubt that somehow, the forums aren't what made Steam successful.

I guess demise is a bit of an overstatement.

Agreed, I've honestly NEVER touched the steam forums apart from viewing it one time, and I've never needed to, I'd hardly say its the demise of steam.. lol

I've probably a grand total of a half-dozen hours browsing those forums over the five years I've been using Steam. Got 100+ games and usually just quickly look on there for specific things, which I could've easily found elsewhere. The idea of this bringing about the "demise of Steam" is laughable in my view.

I've used them a few times for trouble-shooting games and installed mods and steam skins. Find them rather useful at times.

I only time I've ever used the steam forums are when google has linked me to them for fixes to issues.

They're full of so many retards it would be too painful to try and actually post there.

What? The terms Forums and Discussion Boards are synonyms.
The forums might be being changed from one class of forum software to another, but they will still be forums, surely?

Someone remind me what the difference between a forum and discussion board is again.

Also major lols at this indicating the demise of steam. Steam is a license to print money, it's going nowhere anytime soon. Valve are making millions every day just by sitting on their collective ***. They take 30% of every game they sell.

Don't care about the Steam forums, it's a mediocre part of what Steam is all about.

I love the CS forums, it's usually a bunch of 'pros' who vehemently resist any ideas to change the game. :p
