hey guys, is anyone else having this problem?

i'll start my comp up open steam, try playing a game then after 5-10 minutes it crashes, i've tried it so far with Metro 2033, TDU2, Mafia 2, borderlands, all with pretty much the same results, after the game crashes i get nice little artifacts on my steam window, i've tested it on 3 different gfx cards with similar results, all the cards work fine even stressing under furmark

heres a screenie

anyone got any ideas? i've just moved house and on stupid dongle thing so re-downloading my entire library is out of the question.

when you say it crashes, what kind of crash? a CTD? does it chuck an error message out?
have you updated your graphics drivers and DirectX?

Doubt this will work but could you change the view of steama nd just list your games rather than showing the icons?

Really odd idea, but to see if its the steam connection that is chucking you out, why not login in offline mode and see if the problem continues? If it does, then you can rule out that the connection to steam via internet is not causing the issue directly.

All three cards you've tried. Are you using the same drivers for them all? Perhaps a clean install of a new set.

I find it a bit confusing that your getting consistent crashes out of games after 5-10 minutes, but you're worried about the pictures on Steam though. :p

Presumably this doesn't happen when you quit the games normally? Stopping the crashes would propably stop this in that case. ;)

just to update

problems are still persisting, i've backed-up various games and tried again, moved steam to a brand new drive and downloaded the silly little updates bit again all with no solution, tried running steam online, and off heck TDU2 wont even load now, get past the start button screen and all i get is black screen with the load spinning icon displayed

slightly annoying when 99% of my games need steam to run :(

^^ and yeah i cleaned out the drivers for each card, short of totally deleting the entire folder now, am totally lost for where to go next :s ??

just done it Creelers and upon starting steam, it re-downloads it :S

Well obviously... thats kinda the point ><

Its the infamous steam cure-all. If you have deleted the .blob and it hasn't worked, then you can ask for other solutions.

If you've completely reinstalled Steam then surely the problem is elsewhere. Especially if its only started doing it recently. You updated any drivers or programs lately? I don't recall there being a steam update so its not like anythings changed with steam.

Did you check if all your fans inside your case are working ? It could be an overheating problem.

Also, if you are running an overclock on CPU or GPU? have you tried going back to stock voltages and speed to see if that helps ?

Odd issue. If it's not gfx related perhaps try running memtest for awhile to rule out ram, and maybe swap out your PSU for a spare if you can get hold of one. It's not likely to be the cause but it's worth covering your bases.
