Might as well try get help with this, problem as follows:

"Could not connect to the Steam network. This could be a problem with your Internet connection or the Steam servers."

Get this on log in, been like it for over a year, tried everything (seriously).

On the Steam log it says this:

CsComm Session Oct-29-2006 01:36:33.798 [3576] ReconnectThread (3576) Starting
CsComm Session Oct-29-2006 01:36:52.377 [3576] ReconnectThread (3576) Told to exit

Now that happened right now when I tried to log in, it entered ^ information into the Steam.log, so something is telling my Steam to let it log in to my account but what?? (My steam account works btw).
 
Have you opened ports on your firewall and router? cannot remember the ports for Steam but i'm sure they are in the Steam FAQ.
 
Make sure your DMZ is disabled.. a recent update to steam meant i could no longer connect to steam if my PC was in the DMZ..

Course, no solution, tons of people with this problem but all the volunteer moderators do (no offence) is fire a ton of faq links at you. However some of the users on their are helpful and try their best but no luck, its unsolved its something thats just random, people can solve it by it magically working 5 mins later, or after a format, or after doing something else.

Next :D .

Really I'd like to see anyone try even give me a solution that I have no had, or a solution that will fix it. I doubt it (no offence) im not exactly going to be optimistic about it since anyone who has tried to fix it never could, because it could be a million things, and I have tried just about everything.
 
Have you tried the old pocess of elimination to find the cause;

Your PC at a mates house.
Another PC at your house.
Try an alternative router / modem.
etc
etc
 
Nah not tried any of that, my account works though as I tried it at a mates house.

Also I don't have another router, I shouldn't have to edit my settings or buy new stuff to make my account work, I bought the games to play them, not to profit gabe newell in his food consumption.
