Steam link didn't work will nvidia shield?

Okay so long time ago I bought a steam link ****** about all weekend with it and it never worked smoothly, I tried it wired and wireless. It wouldn't even stream a lego game with out massive stutter.

I see nvidia shield is triple the price but also the power is vastly superior so I'm wondering if it would work ?

Moving pc into living room is not an option due to the size of it and no space for it either
 
I sold the steam link box on cause it drove me up the wall, the person I sold it to has no issues.

I changed settings in router, and pc etc nothing made a difference at times it wouldn't even connect and that was on power line adapters.

Could distance be an issue? PC is in atic and tv I stream it to is two flights of stairs below
 
There the entry level power line adapters by tp link there nothing special and are old now, only other thing I have to do is and its very random is at times in atic it will say no Internet I'll unplug powerline adapter and plug it back in and works fine. Now this could happen once a month or then not at all for even longer
