this is a long shot but hoping someone can help!
I did a clean install last month before going back to uni, having now arrived and got round to trying to use steam, it turns out i haven't entered my user/password since the wipe, AND i am behind a proxy.
this means i cannot go into online mode (i knew this from last year) but the issue of no user details means i get a message along the lines of 'steam cannot start in offline mode until you connect in online mode and enter your details'
Catch 22, need to go into offline mode as i cannot get online, but need to go online before i can go into offline mode!!!
anyone know a way to enter the user details into one of the installed files. i'm assuming iits stored somewhere in the steam folder, but havent been able to find it.
Looked on the steam forums, couldnt find much, thought i'd ask here before registering there etc.
