Hi,
Reinstalled Windows 7 last night (on a seperate partition). I had previously backed up all my savegames and other stuff that gets deposited in My Documents, etc.
When I installed Steam again (over the top of where it was previously) and loaded some games I was surprised to see that pretty much all of them had reset to default keybindings and graphics settings. The savegames were visible, but when I loaded any of them I just had the default WASD configuration.
For some reason it seemed like even though nothing (I think?) had changed in terms of directory structure or what files had been stored every time I tried starting a game it acted like I had just installed it and did the whole DirectX install thing, and "X will now determine the best graphic settings for your computer".
Any thoughts? I could only surmise that stuff in the Steam Cloud was overwriting what I already had, but why would files in Steam Cloud have default keybindings, etc?
