STEAM Mover / STEAM Client Issue

I have this bizarre issue that has recently occurred. When I go to launch a game that is not set on my SSD, (Primary Volume) it will display when launched that the game is currently unavailable to play.

Whats worse is that, if a game patches and was on my HDD, it downloads the full latest game client combined with the patch onto the SSD. This is something I have never experienced and I have been using STEAM for years now. What gives?

Any gaben pro fan boys that have a solution?

Sounds like you may have junction the wrong folder, probably your steamapps or common folder, by accident (without copying all the files).

It explains both of your symptoms, otherwise, I'm stumped.

I had this recently from just a good ole copy paste from one drive to another. i found that validating the game files resolved it

See a validation of the files actually starts the download process onto the C: drive.

Ill see what tinkering I can do. It just seems so odd for it just to spring up out of no where after being fine for a good year.

This is a prime example to why exactly VALVe should be updating there client to allow for customized install locations at the start of the install process! Hell if Origin have it, surely STEAM can.

Seems like such an erroneous issue.

Definitely, it's not finding any data so it's downloading it all again.

Trying removing any Steam Mover settings & doing it manually (mklink)

Definitely, I don't understand what is taking them so long. The popularity of steam has exploded recently, but they really have to work hard to remain competitive, and not just in pricing.

Solved.

Incredibly strange solution too.

1. Click play
2. Game then appears in STEAM Mover but displays no file size, and displayed as being part of the primary partition

3. Transfer the game to the HDD, It realizes that the files are already in the physical space addressed. When transferred it also displays the correct file size.

4. Close STEAM MOVER.

5 . Play game it will successfully launch.

Windows....
