Steam - New User

Hi

Seeing as the orange box is such good value I'm finally going to install Steam to purchase it. A couple of quesions though.

1) Can I have the games I have purchased downloaded and installed and 2 different computers?

2) Can I use my work computer to download the games and then install them on my computer at home after burning to DVD?... My home internet connection is quite slow

you can do both of those.

except for the first one, you cant log into the same account on two computers, at the same time, but you can put steam on both then login, and play on them when you want too.

i havnt burnt a dvd myself using steam, but im sure you can easly enough

Steam has a backup feature that splits your downloaded stuff into dvd sized chunks for you I believe, tis a nifty little feature actually.

Not really, Its better to backup the steam aps folder, The restorebackup thingy sucks

Ive used it loads of times. I regularly back mine up after a purchase to another Hard Drive. Just pre-loaded TF2 and it came down at a wopping 1.1Gb (Ish). Took a few hours.

When is the official release date? Might pre-load it myself.

The beta for TF2 starts monday so you might want it pre-loaded by then Don't actually get why they're releasing a beta though, the games actually complete, perhaps some last minute balencing?
