Steam not Updating!

So steam isn't updating this is a first for me and it usually works. Ive tried re-instally, deleting ClientRegistry.blob even a roll-back doesn't seem to help. I have even tried downloading it on my other computer same problems which is strange, gets a certain % then restarts. My Router doesn't have a firewall either so Im thinking it could be something with my ISP (Virgin)

Its annoying because my ping is actually low atm and im on virgin media adsl!

I could get a friend to send me the update files if anyone knows what thier called in the steam folder?

Any fixes would be much apprieated aswell.

EDIT: After reinstalling steam I have stupidly overwritten all my 25GB of game files!!! Nooooo. Only on 512kb Connection so going to take forever to download. Tried system restore but that doesn't work with overwritten files. This day has just gone from bad to worse.

if you run peerguardian, that blocks the steam servers, disable pg2, then try steam again

Did you get to the bottom of this? Having exactly the same issue on virgin adsl atm.

Yep got it sorted now, not a particualry pretty method. Try running the update over and over again untill it gets to 100% every few times it seemed to gain a percent. It seemed to work for me anyhows.

EDIT: Now its back to its old problem, launch -> Nothing Happends, Launch again -> Steam is already running! Dammit!!!
