Meh , steam and their rip off prices ( depending on where you are from )

I was going to get COD4 thru them , but decided not to due to them
charging more for UK downloads than ones from the USA

LOL COD4 available 12th Nov on steam whereas it's available everywhere in the UK now for less..

Thanks for the heads up for shadowground, played the demo and was really into it.

thanks for heads up.

Whats with everyone slating steam because of COD4, Do you think its later release date and inflated price has something to do with valve, more likely to do with the publisher who is putting it in stores to be honest.
Dont be so naive. No-one forces you to buy off steam, just get things from wherever is cheaper!

I think they're slating Steam because it SHOULD be cheaper and quicker to download a game than go out to the shop where you are paying for people to sell you the games, part cost of the shop running costs, etc, etc, etc.

yeah but that is not something to slate Steam about. That is something to slate Activision about.
Oh well, they will lose sales because of it. I know people that would buy COD4 if it was a reasonable price on Steam but won't otherwise.

Yeah price of COD4 is way too high even on e-tailers atm - £29.99 even more expensive than crysis pre-order! Same price as in Game shop so picked mine up from the store instead.

The thing is in relative terms, PC gaming has got cheaper over the years.

£29.99 isn't especially over the top, I mean if you go back 10 years most new games cost around that level. When you take inflation into account, it is surprising that more games aren't being priced at £35-40.

I'm sure Valve stick a % on top and charge Activision for the privilege of it being on Steam.

Steam will auto update it with patches and provide community for it etc.

D2D won't patch it for you perhaps it's to do with this.

Clutching at straws because I don't know full answer
