Hi,

Quick question, my brother wants Football Manager 12, he's had a look in town for a disc but couldn't see any and as he'd really like to play it this weekend. I'm quite happy to download it for him on Steam.

I wouldn't mind the odd half hour on it myself but he'll play quite a bit in the evenings and when he's not out with his mates. I was going to just download it on to my steam account and set him up as an offline user on his pc so I can carry on playing my games on steam as usual.

Is this fine to do? If we're playing different games (or if I do play FM it will only be when he's signed out) there's no problem either technically or legally is there?

Cheers

Yes, you can have both an offline account (because it's offline, no way to know) and online account simultaneously playing the same or different game, on different pc's.

If he's in offline mode, and you're in online mode, he should be able to play FM will your playing whatever (It's not SteamCloud supported is it?).

He won't get patches or any Steam Client updates in offline mode though. Which means you'll have to log him into your account whenever a patch comes out, or if he gets forced into online mode (can see it being annoying for him not being able to play his game if you're not around). Offline mode is quite quirky though, and I've seen quite a few people with issues with it.

If you're buying the game for him, wouldn't it just be easier to make him his own Steam account?
