Steam - People trying to login to my account - Anyone else?

Hi all,

In the last 24 hours I've had login attempts on my Steam account from these country codes:

GE, ID, CM, VN, KE, AR, BR

Anyone else had something recently?

Apparently they used the correct username and password, but I literally only changed my password about a month ago, generated by Lastpass, so it's mega long. My steam account is 16 years old and I have 2FA setup on the email tied to the account and my steam account [steam guard email].

Can't say I have. Like you I have 2FA on the associated email, but I also have the Steam authenticator app on my phone too.

If you use a strong unique password and they got it right, unless steam has had a breach we haven’t heard about yet, I’d be worried about a keylogger... have you run eg malware bytes recently?

Any weird login activity on other sites?

I had someone log into my uplay account. I didn't realise for ages - they must have been so annoyed when they lost acres to their division character!

As above, I'd be worried about keyloggers

I have had constant Steam recovery emails for best part of 6 months now.

I get the email, delete it and thats it. I have 2FA setup etc but it never triggers my phone, maybe because they havent been able to access the email account to change the password idk.

In case of anything fishy i changed my email and Steam passwords, but i still get these prompts 2 or 3 a week normally.

I think its because about 3/4 years ago my Steam was hacked (under the same email) as I didnt have 2FA on there. Im assuming that my login with that incorrect password is still out there and people are taking a chance or something.

Just checked mine with the exhaustive login history and nothing untoward.

It's literally just Steam, my username consists of an asian name cause it was made when I was a teen.. the only thing that has changed over the years is the email address.

Obvious question, the emails are definitely not fake...?

As far as I can tell no, it has a steam guard code in the email and its from [email protected]

I will if it carrys on, but it will start happening again in a month or 2. I think my steam username has probably been in a leak somewhere. The old email address I used was in a fair few breaches, so they probably got my steam username from an old gaming forum.

I highly doubt they are to be honest. Changed it about a month ago to something 20 characters +. I wonder if steam sends the email even when the login is unsuccessful.

Nah, it is only steam, I use lastpass so all my passwords are unique.

This, you're details have probably been leaked or if the asian name is common, it's been picked up by chance on a dump.

If you mean your account name then you have Bob hope of that happening.
