There seems to be a prob lem with my steam, when i try to log on a box comes up saying "steam.exe (main exception) --- bad field - extends past end of blob"
any idea what this is about?
ive got a few games on it and dont want to lose them tbh.
cheers for any help

Delete ClientRegistery.BLOB . If it's the problem it'll issue a new one. Cut it to desktop just to be sure.

To fix this problem you need to exit from Steam (if it's running) and delete a file in your Steam directory called:

ClientRegistry.blob

This would typically be in:

c:\Valve\Steam
or
c:\program files\Steam

The next time you start Steam it will re-create this file, do a brief update and then you should be able to play.

Re-installing Steam on top of an old install may not fix a problem like this, you would have to use the add/remove program in the control panel.

5 secconds google work :).

I also have a steam problem, may as well ask here instead of starting a new thread:

Basically, I have no writing in steam. The main page has writing about the games etc but that is it. The tabe across the top are balnk, when I find the 'my games' page I have icons for the games but no game titles so I have no idea what is what. If I right click on the icon in the system tray I get a pop up appear but again with no writing in it
:(

Not sure when this started although I recently updated gfx drivers and had issues with menus in web browsers, text changed size :(

It's to do not having the correct fonts installed. Once you've installed them all *should* be fine.
