Steam problem

I'm trying to login and it's taking absolutely ages, when it finally did it I tried to enter settings and it went non responsive.

I reinstalled steam from the website and it's just the same ...

Any ideas?
Anyone else experiencing this?

Delete all but the executable in the steam folder, run it and try again. It will redownload itself.

On another note have you checked your internet connection?
