With the recent sales on Steam I've finally started to use it and had nothing but problems.
Problem 1: A few weeks ago I bought DOW2 (boxed copy) which then told me I had to add it on Steam, fair enough and annoyance but at least I wouldn't have to download it on my slow connection. It then takes several hours to update and says it's finished, all good. Now I knew I was getting a new graphics card for xmas so this waiting didn't matter too much as I couldn't play until then anyway. Installed the new card last night, tried to play DOW2, crashes on launch. Try that verify files thing and it tells me some are corrupted or something and it needs to download them again, GAH annoying, but I leave it at it. Come back an hour later and it's reached 12% Realise I'm going to have to leave it on over night. Next morning I wake up, check it, the status is "download starting" WTF does that mean?!? so i pause and resume and it changes to fourteen percent. FOURTEEN PERCENT. So over night it managed a wonderful 2% then paused itself, thanks Steam.
Problem 2: With all these problems outlined in problem 1 I think "meh, I'll play some Portal"

WHAT
Is Steam actually telling me I can't play the game I've bought?!?
Fed up at this point I decide to exit Steam and go and play a boxed game that actually works...
"One or more Steam applications are currently running. To exit Steam, you must first shut down all Steam applications"
That's great Steam, see the thing is, the EXIT button should close all Steam applications.
I've had nothing but problems with Steam, I can't be the only one surely? Does anyone know any fixes to the last two?
