Ok, i've bought a couple of games but i'm not sure what its charging me, as it always displays the price in dollars. I'm wondering if it does a direct conversion to pounds if it charges dollars to accounts which might make my bank smack a massive charge on me.

Any enlightenment on the issue welcomed:)

I have bought games before. It charges you in dollars, and your bank makes the conversion + fee (£1 for lloyds). That was when the orange box came out.

My bank doesn't charge anything for the conversion. I pre-ordered The Orange Box for $44.95 in September:

CARD 52.82 US ON 12SEP STEAM GAMES WWWSTEA EXCHANGE RATE 1.97458/$ £26.75

$44.95 * 1.175 (VAT) = $52.82
$52.82 / 1.97458 = 26.74

Tbh you will find that Credit card and bank card transactions give you excellent currently conversion rates with no charges. Much better than say getting foreign currency exchanged at a travel agents.
I tend to use my credit card a lot abroad.

I'm using the coop bank, can't find if they charge or not:confused:

EDIT: found this
Foreign transaction fee
Applied to any debit or credit card transaction in a currency other than Sterling.
2.75% of the value of the transaction
