My steam is pretty messed up. Every time I boot it up, it asks for my username, password even though each time I select remember. Then it updates every time. I also want set it to boot it at start up into big picture mode but I cant with that username / password pop up happening each time.

I've Tried running it as admin but when I do that steam comes up with a message all the time saying its in compatibility mode and that certain features wont work.

I want to do a complete reinstall of steam, but keep the games I have already downloaded (i dont want to have to redownload them). Additionally I want to Steam Client to be installed on my SSD (but the downloaded / games being still installed on my normal HD). Is this possible to do?

Just copy your steam folder to your other drive and reinstall Steam on the main drive you want to use.

Once installed and updated go to settings/downloads/steam library folders and point to the steam folder on the other drive and it will link your old games.

Sonni - that's interesting! Does that backup your game saves as well? I think I've asked about it on here before but can't remember what the response was: which folder(s) do I need to backup?

Save games are in random folders (and it depends if it uses Steam cloud or not).

Normally it puts them in Documents or in AppData. Either way you should be fine. If you're paranoid about loosing them download GameSave Manager and do a manual backup.

As above they are either cloud based (if the game uses it) or saved in your AppData/Documents folders.

You will need to check "View hidden folders and files" to view the AppData folder though.

Or use the program specified above.
