If I go for their Orange package (all the HL2, HL2 episodes, TF2 etc etc) can you specify where to download it to? I want it on my D drive...

What if you've already got HL2 (like me)?

i had the same problem with steam directories

someone said you could just copy/paste the whole lot into the new drive but that didn’t work for me

i ended up copying the folder with all the games and downloaded stuff in:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps

uninstalling steam, re-installing onto my D drive and then pasting it all back into /steamapps

no idea if this is all your save games etc though.

and if you already have HL2, valve in all their generosity have given you the opportunity to give it away! wow!

i'll have it if its going?

So you have to install it to where Steam is? (In my case C)

But I want all the new stuff (eg: TFC) on D where all my games go (HL2 is there!!)

yeah sadly i've not found a way to download and install it to another drive

remember when i had the problem a month or two ago i searched the steam forums etc. and was told to just copy and paste the entire lot

they were pretty adament it'd work so it might for you? make a backup of your steamapps first though or you'll have to re-download them

I've only got about 1.5gb free on C.. It's my OS drive, and I install everything else to other drives :(

you got any free space on your other drive, D? if yes loads then copy and paste C:...\steamapps anywhere on D to back it up. uninstall steam, reinstall onto D (if you dont have the install its only small to download off their site) then copy the backup of steam apps into the new steam folder on D...

if that makes any sense!

if you only have about 1.5Gb left on C then you'll prob see an increase in performance as windows likes a good amount of free space on its disc.

oh i forgot the last step, give both drives a damn good defrag!

OK... Fingers crossed!

Worked a treat thanks! ;)

I now have over 7GB free on my C drive as well!!!

Just an additional note to this...

Having just been through a similar thing again, it seems (at least in my case):-
- I just copied the entire STEAM folder to where I wanted it.
- Uninstalled the original copy.
- Then installed Steam again over where I wanted it. Seemed to work fine...

Obviously I'd suggest putting another copy of it away somewhere else just incase :)
