steam question

i am quite new to using steam, i have got a couple of games from there in the past without problem but last night i downloaded titan quest gold, today when i tried to run it, it tells me i need to install it first?

the desktop shortcuts are there just the same way steam has downloaded other games, but ive never had this error.

anyone know why?

Has it finished downloading?

Try verifying the install.

Are there any special actions you need to do with that game?

Try running it through the steam library instead of the desktop shortcut
