Steam Question

Hey guys,

Is this right; I decided yesterday that I fancied a bit of l4d2 this weekend so I dug out my dvd and went about installing it, knowing that this would be the fastest option - if I'd have installed it directly through steam it would have taken days on my poultry 1mb connection... well that's what I thought.

I installed the game via my physical disc copy thinking that I would probably only have to download 200/300mb of updates etc. on top of that through steam so I left my pc on over night to finish but it appears that the game is basically downloading itself in its entirety anyway... its been ages and I'm still only 63% of the way through it! I'm assuming its downloading the whole thing - there cant' have been that many updates can there? At this rate I'll be lucky to play at all before Monday

I put the disc in the drive, and clicked install from the auto run - followed the onscreen instructions. When it finished I clicked 'finish'.

Can't understand it :confused:

That's normal. It has to download 4 new maps, new game modes plus all other patches.

Updates have added so much that its basically another game added.

Your disc must have not installed properly if I remember correctly the disc installs about 6gb.

1mb does that mean you only get 100kb/s? That must suck

The Passing, The Sacrifice, No Mercy (L4D1 map but updated for L4D2), Cold Stream Beta (Community made map but it is so good that Valve released it officially but under beta).

Play it all the time with a clan and we are probably one of the best in the UK. I am nothing compared to the admins though I mean I class my self as a really good player but they are like another level above me

Hope they officially port the other four L4D1 maps, I loved Crash Course

I seriously cant remember I think I have only played the map twice with the clan and 4v4 from the same clan and we both seem to die pretty easily playing each other.

It has a stream which has oil flowing through it and a tunnel which has sun light shining through it when you exit a safe room which blinds you until you leave the tunnel which is a very easy place to get charged/split combo at.
