I have not used steam for several months. They have since updated it. I had cs: beta installed and still do but it is not showing in my library anymore. Have they moved the installed games to someone else in the application? or do you think i have been taken off the beta? is the cs: beta still active?

Betas can be accessed by right clicking on the game in your library and selecting Properties and selecting the Betas tab.

Im not sure, beta may have been restricted for those that have purchased the game since the game went live.

Did you purchase the game? If you got into the beta and did not continue to purchase the game, i think beta access is taken away from you, hense why its been removed from your library.

I have hl2 and cs:s still in my library and still have the 9gb of files in my steam directory but the cs:s beta game is not showing the library. When i right click on the icon in systray it shows the game at the top of the context menu but when i click it nothing happens.

It's no bother really, they hardly update CS:S anymore, they have changed it around in recent weeks so the game loads up faster, but they in turn broke the game/textures.

They havent made gameplay changes in a long time. Enjoy the main game :D

Ok i found thread, valve decided to remove beta :( I am realy annoyed

the beta was awesome it had all good players on it and no annoying kids, there was hardly any bugs as well, everything just worked. it was the best cs i played in ages on there. the main cs sucks full of noobs and bugs.

I'm really not sure why you'd be surprised that they would eventually remove a beta after releasing the full product, and presumably no longer planning any real updates.

releasing the full product?

There was no reason to remove the beta.

The beta came out years after counter strike source was released, many years. It was actually a newer version of the game than the original counter strike source. Well of course the beta came out first, but what i mean is that the beta version was updated more recently than the original and had additional features and other things. It was an improved version of the original source by the time they killed it.

It was a separate release channel, similar to firefox beta, where you can tell the firefox beta is a newer version than the official release channel but its called a beta, if you get me ?

Fair enough, its a shame if you were enjoying it just seems to me the purpose of a beta is just for testing. As for the normal version, I don't really find there to be any bugs, and as long as you find a good server there are decent people about to play with.
