Was wondering if anyones had the same happen and no how long i can expect to wait?

Basically the other day i got a message about someone else trying to access my account but didnt think too much of it as i get emailed and they couldnt change anything unless they have their email address being used. But then yesterday got another so thought id best follow the instructions and change my password but as soon as i try someone then logs into my account meaning i cant.

To cut a long story short i sent a ticket to support with evidence that the accounts mine but all they've done is restrict the account, they haven't actually looked at the evidence or responded, so i'm assuming this takes some time? Happens just as im back from hols and coh2 is out :S

Can take days...

Did you change you email password? I thought the only way you could log in from a new pc was by putting in the code form the email.

You get the email that says someone else has tried to access your account and to change your steam password which is what i went to do but then someone else seemed to open my steam which therefore wouldnt allow me to do the same, but i did eventually change the steam password so i can get in now but just cant do much with the account due to the restrictions but i have sent a pile of messages to steam as requested with photos of cd key etc just not heard anything back.

Is there no live chat or something similar?

Sounds like you were phished. Did you follow a link from that email in order to change the password? If so, that's probably how they got it.

You should always log into Steam and change your password directly from there, or do it via the Steam website (if you can). NEVER follow links from emails, no matter how official they may appear.

Sounds like you were a victim of a phishing attack.
If you receive an email telling you you need to log into your account, any account, never do it by clicking the link in that email.
Always close the email, open a new tab in your browser, and login manually - using one of your own bookmarks or (better) typing the address of the site manually.
For steam there's an even better option - don't log in via the web at all - use the steam client.

I'm usually quite clued up on that sort of thing and i'm fairly sure i logged in via the client to do it, and i checked out the email it came from which was the exact same as proper ones ive received in the past regarding other things, though either way, result is still the same but im surprised how long its taking just to get a single response to the issue.

I was using it, thats why i got the email to say someone had tried to access my account,

Thats steamguard isnt it?

It was an email with the code which ive had before when i logged on with a different computer.

People can use that against you since phishing email creators are getting smarter and now using correct spelling and formatting (and sending hiding the initial address) so you have to be super careful.

I had it before but simply logged in and changed my password from my phone to my steam account.
