Seems that the latest steam update was switching over all remaining games to thier new format.

If you haven't played/updated some of these games for a while, you get hit with a massive download (without any warning).

I was wondering how I had got 50gb of space on my drive, then I noticed steam downloading about 25 games

Could be issues with the hashing of the games, for example, if the MD5 hash for the game files are different from the ones on the steam server then these files will be redownloaded.

I had an issue with them doing it on my RAID array until the updated the steam client... was annoying!! :) You might want to the a chkdsk on your drive to ensure everything is okay.

Same thing happened to me yesterday with the season pass for Bioshock Infinite, after downloading the 10.4GB DLC i tried to launch the game and it started downloading the 10.4GB DLC again.

no big downloads here none of my games have been switched over so its not everyone. Could be that some already have a library of games that are ok.

Steam updating 30 Items.

At 2am 16GB so far.

Now 6am 27.6GB and a quarter way through Rage's 28GB

Then still another 21GB after that before D/L slot is empty.

Oh this is my work PC just wait till I get home and see whats waiting on my main pc. *sigh*

Yeah I have lots of updates for half-life paused - That said I think I am the only PC owner who just does not think it is all that so they will probably stay paused forevermore.

They should have given some notice about needing to redownload your games or something.

I have over 60GB of stuff to download. Although admittedly some of them I dont play anymore.

Interestingly it was all 'old games', not old titles but things that have been installed for years/months.
