Steam S.T.A.L.K.E.R wont start

Bought stallker last night via, steam, very cheap so why not, let it download overnight, and now im trying to start it, but it just stays on 'preparing to launch Stalker: Shadow of Chernoybl'

Any ideas?

This happened to me as well.

Right click on stalker in the my games list and select 'check file integrity' and it should then start downloading an update to fix the problem.

well my game wont start, i installed 2 mods, everything worked fine, then i installed the mod non degrading armor and it crashes once the game loads up.

Deleted the files it added, and still the problem, oh well, that was a fun hour or so of playing.

Have you started a new game, or are you using a previously saved game ? Stalker can be funny about that.

Yeah ill see if it happens when starting a new game.

new game works fine, i guess my old save is screwed up.

Oh well, i wasent far into it at all.

I think that link refers to D2D or other download sites versions of the game.

Just downloaded Faiakes mod, installing it now, but how do i install the 250 or 300kg weight limit that comes with it?

edit: STart game, as soon as i accept the first mission from the trader, the game crashes to desktop.

Try the Simbion mod. It's Russian but it's the best mod out there by a long shot. Makes the game into what was promised.
