Yes, there is a sticky in the steam forum about an electrical outage. No ETA atm.

Does highlight a problem with steam - it's far too difficult to access offline mode.

edit: forums seem to be pretty much down now as well.

What ?1?!!?, just because steam is down that means I can't play any of my games :mad:

was just about to ask. I want to play hl2 to see if it work better now ive upgraded my system (a good 6 months ago at least)

You'd think if they decided to keep everything in one building, they would have a backup generator or similar.

try disconnecting your network cable / disabling your network connection and starting steam. This may or may not work... Last time I tried, I believe it gave me the option to start in offline mode, but then tried to connect anyway and failed.

A feature of steam I imagine. Since the login info is there it's not so fussed that it can't connect to check. The problem comes when you're trying to log in. Can't even run offline mode as it hasn't been verified with steam hq this session.
