Steam servers too busy to handle this request - FROM DVD!!!

Steam are failing at the moment! I can even install from the dvd and its saying the steam servers are too busy!!!

It doesn't matter if it's a DVD or not, Steamworks games all contact the same server. You're just going to have to deal with it until the Black Ops mania dies down.

Took me about 2 hours to get past the preparing game files stage... it was 9mb only that needed downloading!!!

Oh well now happily installing from disk!!

If you go into the Steam settings and change the download/cloud location setting to a distant country (I used Singapore). It seems to install OK (well, it did for me anyway). I can only assume the European servers are overloaded...

I think it may be more to do with Black Ops hammering the servers.
