Steam - Steamapps advice please :)

Hi all,

My friend and I are wanted to play 2 player on games like Napoleon Total War, Civ 4 Complete and Dawn of War 2.

I already have these games downloaded on my PC.

My friends internet connection is fairly slow, so I was wondering if the following would be possible:

- Get my friend to purchase the games on his account

- Pause the downloads and quit steam

- Copy the fully downloaded games from my steamapps folder to his

- Get him to reopen steam, resume download and then verify integrity of game cache

Any ideas if this would work? It is about a 45 min drive between our houses so would be nice to know before hand.

It should work, as long as it's only the contents of the Steamapp folder for that particular game you copy across and overwrite on his PC. It's essentially how many of us back our games up When you relaunch steam it may kick in with "downloading" again, but it'll probably only be patching or checking the files you've added and stop after a couple of minutes even on a slow connection.

Yes.

You should be able to copy the folders across, or even using the steam backup system will work fine.

Steam backup needs a backup for when it fails ><

Just copying the entire folder across works fine. It should check it but finish up immediately.
