Does anyone know a work around where by I can get a full 4K resolution to my 4k display via Steam Streaming?

My main gaming pc is hooked upto a 3440 x 1440 display and my Lounge setup has a 4k Tv with a pc connected. Network is hard-wired.

The max resolution I can get in my Lounge is 2560 x 1440.

I have contacted steam support and they said that I wont be able to get 4k as my main pc's display is not 4k.

So has anyone got this working?

Custom resolution on the host PC. It *can* be hit and miss though.
I did however use it to run 3200x1800 from my PC to my Ultrabook and it ran excellent on Witcher 3.

Unfortunately it didn't work. The screen just goes blank as my display cannot display that resolution. I tried messing with the scaling the NV control panel to see if this would work but alas it didn't.

I also tried this app, but still no luck.

Unless there is another way I might just buy a Headless Display Emulator.

Are using both ends wired or Wi-Fi, I found that while Wi-Fi has a good bandwidth for downloading and playing games, for some reason it just does not like streaming (for games, films work fine).

Your PC may go blank but it'll still be rendering the game?
You run your desktop at your native resolution then create a custom resolution.

Start a streaming session at the native resolution and while streaming on the client increase the resolution to your desired resolution. It doesn't matter if it stops displaying on the host. Essentially running as a headless display.

Sorry I have just seen these replies.

I cant get to set the custom resolution at all in the nvidia control panel. Before the custom resolution can be accepted as valid NvCP runs a test, the screen goes blank and it will not let you proceed to create the resolution.

Cheers, I tried this and still no go. :(

Edit: I have got further by setting the desktop to 1080p down from 3440x1440 it accepts the custom 4k res.

I managed to get it working. The main issue seemed to be my main display was an ultrawide 21:9 and not a 16:9 display. Once I changed the desktop to 1080p it then allowed me to add a custom resolution of 4k, save and exit.
I have put my main desktop back to normal 3440x1440 and the custom resolution is still showing which now allows me to stream in 4k.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. :)
