I am looking to purchase some games but the steam sale is on the 11th so im wondering if its worth waiting to see if they are in the sale.
I am wanting to buy:
Call of duty Black ops, and black ops 2
iRacing subs
Elite Dangerous
Dirt Rally
Batman Arkham Knight

Either i hold off till the sale or i get them on code sites, so i know its a long shot, and no one will or does know exactly, but do you think any of them will come on sale

the old call of duties are always on sale in the big steam sales...I think the others will have small discounts but probably cheaper on key selling sites.

Always wait until after the sale, only buy things when theyre silly high% off or in the flash sale.

A lot of the deals seem to be repeated at the end it seems if you managed to miss anything

+1

Best strategy is to either by them at the end during the Encore Sale or Flash (< which is often the best deal).

iracing nearly always has deals going but usually only for new customers.
sometimes they send me offers to resubscribe but very rarely.

anyway it's not the sub that makes iracing expensive it's the cost of the tracks and cars

Not sure Arkham Knight will go any cheaper than the £21 I posted in the Arkham knight and PC deals thread last week. It won't even be released before the sale starts AFAIK?

Steam are allowing refunds now so if a game gets advertised cheaper with 14 days and you havnt played it for more than 2 hours you can get a refund and buy it at the cheaper price

I would wait until the sales or buy from the key sites

They usually do discounted subs around Oct, Thanksgiving in the states (i think its around the 20th?) and thats usually half price but im not sure if thats only yearly or any, but on the basis that they do this offer every year its worth coordinating your subs with it, and they stack (buy 5x 1yr = 5yrs etc).

Discount credits are done too from time to time, get $25 for $20, $100 for $75.
I have emails from March 23rd - April 3rd (extended)

Hmm, Nov 29th-Dec 4th was the Black Friday discount, 50% of 1yr ($49).

If you're in need, buy what you need to bridge till then. I believe they do both every year.

I cant imagine it featuring on Steam tbh. SteamPrices shows its never dropped price (excl going from 6mo sub to 1mo minimum), and if anything its more expensive cos the rates are unfavourable.

Are key selling sites legit? Can Valve revoke the key if there's something dodgy about the key you buy?

Only if the developer/publisher themselves request it, which is rare. Only Ubisoft have ever done something like that, and well, whether the keys were dodgy or not is another story when it comes to them...

Buy the Daily Deals when you see them as they are normally the best price throughout the sale, they 'may' appear again in the final encore/repeat day but you wont know until that day so there is a chance you will miss out if it does not get repeated.

Don't hang around getting a game if it is a Daily Deal or Flash Sale as the discount does not always stay the same and it never gets better, only worse. I have seen games with high discount in a Daily Deal like -80% change within a matter of hours/minutes to a worse discount like -66%. They do change the discounts so be quick.

Dont buy any DLC's until the main game appears in a Daily Deal or Flash Sale as the DLC may get a discount the same as the main game. If the main game never shows up in Daily Deals or Flash Sales then buy the DLC on the last day. When the sale starts DLC on a lot of games will be discounted, dont be tempted to buy as I bet it will have better discount if the game goes on Daily Deal or Flash Sale.

Ive spent way too much time and money in the Steam Sales so I have personally been a victim of buying too early (worse discount, eg buying DLC on day one before the game was a Daily Deal) or buying too late (missing the better discount as I hung around too long.)

Basically, Daily Deal, Flash Sale or Community Choice - buy it as early as possible.
DLC or games that never have a Daily Deal, Flash Sale or Community Choice - buy it on the last day.

EDIT: Also, remember: Not all the 'deals' will be on the main page, pretty much everything gets a discount of some degree, search the store for what youre looking for. DLC is an example of this, in a Daily Deal it will only normally advertise the main game with a discount, look up the games DLC and see if that has been discounted too.

With the new refund system in place you might as well just buy the game you want in the daily deals and hold off playing it until the final day. It eliminates the risk of missing out on a cheap price in the hope of a cheaper price.
