Ok theres a game im looking at buying via STEAM

UK = $58
US = $30

Can i buy via a proxy to get it cheaper?
Will i still be able to download it?
What if a friend from the states gifts it to me?

HELP!!

I expect you might have to pay the VAT on it or something but I don't necessarily see why not. Unless your friend has to specify where you live and is charged for a UK copy. Only way to know is to get someone to try and and go through the motions right up to the point they give him a price then say ye or nay

Surely when they get your card details or billing address it knows straight away you are from the UK? Maybe you could get someone fromt the US to buy it for you (you give them the money) and they give it you as a gift. Honestly though, I think it's better to probably just buy the physical copy (which is cheaper) and be done with it.

Gifting from the US does work.

Afaik, proxies also work, but only if you have a US billing account ;) A proxy is useless if you're still using a UK debit/credit card ;)

rip of britain ah a truly british way of life :D

I got an American mate to buy COD4 on Steam and gift it to me; it cost £26 which was nearly a £10 saving.

What about using a proxy and using stuff such as paypal or click and buy, will they (valve) be able to track my location through that ?
