Steam updating

I now facing the farce that is Homefront and I am downloading 5 gb just to play it. I would like to play a game while it is updating, but as soon as I launch a game the updating stops.

So how do I play a steam game while downloading the rest of homefront?

Think you need to alt+tab out after launching a game and click resume download.

Yep. I think you've got to first stop the suspended download, and then restart the stopped download to get it going.

Really something Steam should fix. Even if it's just a flag that you have to enable for particular games, or a download manager built into the in-game hud.
