Steam v Microsoft store - any real difference?

File size on the MS Store is way bigger than Steam as it uses a different encryption & compression method so I would only buy from MS as a last resort they do not treat PC gaming as a priority no matter what the newest cheerleader of Gamepass says

Yeah but if you pay for a subscription you get games "free on game pass!"

Most of the games are rubbish :p when prices went up I cancelled like so many others did as they are taking the p! You never own them you have a licence to play them as long as your sub is active once you cancel all the content goes (although saves remain in their cloud service).

For anyone who plays & likes their games I guess its worth it but most PC gamers prefer Steam ;)

This prompted me to check my windows store and it's not that clear to me what I own when I go to library.

It shows Forza 5 Premium VIP that I have no recollection of buying but I'll check transactions. It also shows a load of AC games I am sure I only played on GP (currently active sub). I suspect once my GP expires today, they may not show as available to download any more.
You can do this in the XBox app. My Library -> Ownership drop down, select owned, Platform, Select Xbox (otherwise it can pull games from other services like EA that you have via gamepass)

MS store is kinda crap.
like I bought forza premium edition.
tried to download the forza premium edition on the store, oh and error code.
followed guides on reddit etc trying to fic it..

then saw a post from someone saying you download the normal forza version... so why h as MS got multiple versions of a game on the store? if everyone downloads the same version?
why add the premium version seperately? it just confuses people who think they have to download that version of the game. when all the premium stuff unlocks as part of the regular version.

literally spent hours trying to fix the damn ms store before I saw that post. why would anyone buying trhe premium edition think they need to download the normal version?
