Feel inclined to post as I can't accept that it's just myself experiencing this.

Steam works fine, I can play all my source engine games without complaint, but the damn thing won't load at startup. I've checked msconfig and it's in there, it doesn't error message or crash, it just never loads from boot. Run it manually from the start bar and after 30 seconds or so it loads up.

What's this about?

I get the same problem on XP, it wont load on startup and i keep getting the error "could not load steam.exe" (well something alone thoese lines).

I've had the same error on 2 different machines. I think the updated version is a bit buggy!

Seems to be a fault with the last update that steam sent down, there are loads of reports of people not being able to get into steam. Mine currently fails about 50% of the time with a Steam.exe error when it autostarts at windows login.

Seems to be all operating systems.

When is the next update due? I'm contemplating reinstalling but might let it do the next update first.

I think it's a timing thing, sometimes happens to me when my Steam starts up before the PC has properly logged into the wireless network. Might not be the same message, but I get an error pop up saying it couldn't load.

Something else I noticed last night that I'd forgotten about. 2 entries under the vista games menu for HL2

These little things bug the hell out of me so I'm thinking about taking steam off entireley and reinstalling it. In fairness I installed the client last time and copied the files from my backup so maybe that's had a negative effect.

I don't want to hide it though. I want it to not be there at all.

Just worked it out, one is for hl2 dm. Just that it doesn't say it.
