I'm getting the exact same issues as these poor devils, a total stutter fest in any Steam VR games, anyone else?.....

Seems to be driver related would be my guess and Nvidia have acknowledged the issue as shown in that thread above. These 572.16 drivers (only ones that work with 5000 cards) are a total **** show though. All sorts of weird issues happening, but they were fine on my 3090. I'm guessing it's the same for 5090 users too? Anyone confirm?

Hmmm, very odd then. At least Nvidia have acknowledged that it's an issue so should hopefully get fixed soon in drivers.

Really annoying as VR was the thing I wanted to test most with this GPU.
Yeah, an issue for some people doesn't guarantee everyone gets it. There's been several issues reported but I haven't got any of them, I was already running the drivers on my 3080, literally just removed the old card and stuck the new one in without reinstalling or anything.

Some people do ddu or reinstall drivers etc. as they swear by it, inadvertently they could be causing problems.

You know what, that's what I did! I was just going to take out old card, put in new card, put kept reading oh you must DDU blah blah blah. I had a nightmare, black screens etc. Could only fix by running off my iGPU and then all sorts of nonsense. I think DDU ****** it up!

Yeah, I stopped using DDU years ago, at most I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, but actually I've seen people having more issues after using DDU than not. There might be edge cases with switching AMD/Nvidia cards it can help with, but nvidia to nvidia I always update driver first, then just swap the cards over and thats never failed me so far.

i get stutter in AMS2 VR via Virtual desktop
i get it occasionally though

although I'm constant 90 fps, no frame drops or anything
when i stutter my fps dropped, but still no "dropped frames" in fpsVR bottom right

Last night however, 2.5 hours on AMS2 about 1 or 2 stutters the entire time

Seems like the really bad frametime stutter is specific to certain headsets only from my quick research. Quest 3 seems to fair the best whereas PC PSVR2 is the worst - which is what I'm currently testing with. It's basically unusable at the moment. Needs driver fixes asap.

Will try the Reverb G2, whilst it still works.....

UPDATE - Just tested the G2 in Steam VR, and whilst the fpsVR app still showed constant purple frame time spikes on the GPU data and 1000's of dropped frames, it was actually smooth as silk. On the PSVR2 you get the same readouts, but it actually feels like 1000's of dropped frames - and is unplayable!

So it's clearly a driver or SteamVR combo issue going on. Come on you Nvidia/ Valve nerds, sort it out....

Steam VR still completely broken with new Nvidia drivers today and 5080. For ***** sake, starting to regret getting this 5080 and selling old card....
fixed

its disapointing to here thouhg. you'd think Nvidia and valve would have had it down as advanced partnetship or something

the Steam link you mean or Steam VR ?

I use Virtual desktop and play steam VR games no problem

Apparently Quest 3 is fine, which I assume you're using.
PSVR2 is totally borked (Which is my cuurent fav headeset for various games), and apparently Pimax and Arjo varjo are buggered also. My Reverb G2 works great however in MS flight Sim but I assume that's because its full OpenXR. G2 does work in Steam VR games too though - even though it shows the purple GPU frametime spikes in fpsVR and 1000's of dropped frames it's totally smooth. Weird.

I'm just concerned that as PC VR is basically a poor cousin these days it may be ages before the appropriate diver fixes come out. And I haven't sold my old card yet @LostCorpse, so **** on that.

im guessing its not feasible to run both in the chassis? power requirements and cables.

i'd probably consider swapping it back for a month if its an option unless you have spesific use cases other than gaming benifiting from the 5080.

did you by chance see one comment :
Possible workaround until the Nvidia gets working: Start SteamVR and ensure everything is running. Check the overview to see if frame drops are occurring. Then, disconnect all additional monitors from your PC. If you now enter VR using FPSVR (or a similar tool) to check, the frame drops should be gone.

The downside is that SteamVR’s desktop function will no longer work. However, you can still add individual windows—such as Discord—via the “+” button in the SteamVR menu (in VR).

not sure if this helps but might be worth a try

do agree pcvr doesnt get the luv it deserves

Hey cheers, for the sake of 'science' I might give that a go just to see....

Edit - that Reddit thread you linked @LostCorpse has this message regarding this issue/ a fix from 3 days ago now from an Nvidia bod I think...

"It won't be in the next driver coming soon but we are hoping we can get a fix in time for the following one."

So, not in today's driver update but hopefully the next one. Sigh.

ah, yer i didnt see that

i saw the "Hello all. We were able to reproduce this issue and I have added it to the Open Issues list of our driver feedback form. Thank you for your assistance." but stopped reading that part of the thread.
at least you have a rough time table :/

based on the profile messages looks like they work for Nvidia
