Steam - What is it?

Bethesda have publisher rights only in this game to the people thinking it was developed by them.

It is worth dowloading just to see what it is like, plus there are numerous free games to download on there. :)

Few others as well but these are all worth a free download. :)

yes, its really worth it. it will convert you to using it as a great source of games, just give it time :p
its sometimes not the cheapest but the sales they have on there are incredible plus it keeps all your games up to date for you so no messign with patches etc.
you can also backup your purchased games onto dvd/cd's (it comes with its own software to do this) so you can save bandwidth after a format or something.
and lastly, soem of those games that are free youve mentioned are very good games too! :D

Steam is deadly to your bank account :P probs pushing over £1700 since Steam released

Thats funny cause Bethesda didnt make New Vegas it WAS handed off to Obsidian Entertainment who created KOTOR and Neverwinter Nights who where in turn created by the team that left Black Isle Studios when Interplay went **** up who if you are a Fallout fan should already know created the original Fallouts and Baldurs Gate.

Yes I've been over this subject many times in other threads... However Bethseda retain control of the IP and publish New Vegas. I'd hope that point didn't evade you...

Although steam reduces cheating in a lot of titles, it technically doesn't apply to some games. For instance, a few of the lesser known titles have ver poor anti cheat systems that make them impossible to play online... No wait, it's just cod mw2

That has absolutely nothing to do with Steam.

If it's created by some of the people that created the original fallout but published by Bethesda, where is the problem?

And what does IP stand for? I'm guessing it's not internet protocol :p

Nope 24" 1920x1200 monitor!

omg, You have never played Half Life 2??????

+1 lol

thats the game that got me (and i suspect countless others) on board.

There can be a bit of a premium on price unless you use one of the frequent offers.

For me though the best thing is being able to play a game a few hours after buying without leaving the house (at any time of day)

That and the few game shops local to have reduced PC game stock to a really pitiful level.

I think Hl2 was the cheese that dragged us all through the horrible start up problems with steam, if they had used a less "AAA" title for the launch i think steam would have died due to those problems.

tefals right it was HL2 though i didnt have a lot of problems with steam in the early days however i was late to HL2!
