Steam will not update, kill me now

delete everything in the steam directory except for steam.exe and the steamapps folder? Then run Steam.exe and it should download everything, see if that works?

Disable the firewall completely?

https://support.steampowered.com/ Hit the contact support, create an account (Its not the same as your steam account), and make a ticket?

The only problem I ever had with updating Steam was fixed by updating it in safe mode, worked a treat.

I have done a disk check and nothing came up.

It seems the only way I can even get slightly into steam is if I reset my router and the second it switches back on, Click on steam. The problem then is that I manage to get into it but the client is VERY slow and buggy. Any ideas why I can get into it like this but not usually?

Sorry to be a noob, How do I go about that?

Start, Right click Computer, Properties, Device Manager, Network Adaptors, Right click ethernet controller, Properties, Driver tab.

Check the version.

Go onto the manufactures website for the ethernet controller and go on the support/downloads section and search for the latest drivers and see if it is newer than your current ones.

Download if it is and install it like any other programme.

Up to date already :(

How's internet access in general from the PC, fast enough?

I thinking of background programs that are either hogging the bandwidth or interfering with Steam.

I'ts totally fine other than this, When I try the router trick to get into steam that's okay for about a miunte then everything slows down and downloads stop.
